I've been having a hard time finding unfertilized soil for sale. The best I've found is "organicaly fertilized earth"...

Can I go to my local woods and dig some out? Is that safe, or would it contain to much bacteria, etc...?

I'm using Coconut Husk as a substrate, but was willing to add some earth to at least part of the enclosure to improve on humidity & variety for my Hermann's.

Thanks.

Organicly fertilized soil is just fine to use. Organic meaning some animals poo has been aged and added to the soil, usually cow, but could be horse, goat, sheep or chicken poo.

usually the cheap top soil doesn't have anything added to it. Just read the bag and make sure it doesn't, plus make sure it doesn't have perlite. That's the little white Styrofoam balls.
