Recently my boyfriend and I found (on the sidewalk near an intersection) what seems to be an adult male rf, and after no responses to lost tortoise postings, are building him an outdoor enclosure (we live in Atlanta, GA).

Our starting plan is a
-8' x 12' enclosure, sunk about 4" deep and a foot high
-a hide box
-a heat emitter/uvb lamp (possibly in the hide?)
-shallow water pan, like the terra cotta planter things
-asstd plants for munching

we're very new to this and trying to learn as much as we can, any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

One suggestion would be to heighten the barrier - they can stand on their back legs and stretch when they feel like escaping, and if he knows it's futile to even try, you may present flipping disasters as well.
