I have some questions about my outdoor enclosure for my 7 month old sulcata baby.
At 4 pm today I recorded the following temperatures:
Air: 66 degrees F
Ground in sun: 102 degrees F
Ground in shade: 75 degrees F
Inside of green ceramic hide: 93 degrees F
Water bowl: 82 degrees F

So I know the air temperature is considered
too cold but Timi seems to be pretty smart about moving around to where she is most comfortable. She rests in the hide periodically to warm up and comes out to explore, graze, walk through her water bowl etc.
This time of year where I live is usually overcast
early in the day (known locally as ‘May gray’ and ‘June gloom’) but then sunny in the afternoon averaging 70 degrees F.
So is it ok for her to be out one to two hours in
the afternoon? She gets very glum and stares out the corner of her terrarium if she does not get her ‘play time’.
I’ve attached a couple of photos.
She does get a good soak when I bring her in.
Thank you.

You are on the bottom end of what I would consider warm enough. Your tortoises behavior suggests that your temps are okay.

The sun is a magical orb, is it not?

Yes, it is! I meant to mention Timi’s carapace also warms up to 90 degrees or more soon after she gets into the sun. Thanks for your reply.
