Paint/Sealer to use?

Hello,
I am in the process of building a large wooden tortoise table for my yellowfoot. It will have a plexiglass front. Any recommendations on what to use to paint/seal the bottom? It will be quite humid in there and I would like it to last a long time. He does like to move around the cyprus mulch quite a bit. The guy at the Lowes recommended that I just buy a kitcken/bath semi-gloss paint with low VOCs and mildew proof.

If you really want the best possible stuff for a perminant build this is the stuff

Two coats literally turns plywood into a fish tank.

You can get it from West Marine.
It is expensive though over $100 for a gallon kit. It will last indefinitely.

Once it has cured it is totally inert.
The friend I got it from works on yachts . the stuff is designed not to break down in a saltwater environment. My friend literally makes saltwater fish tanks out of it.
A little damp soil is not going to hurt it.
This stuff is like liquid glass.
