I got them from Turtles & Tortoises Inc and am very happy with them! They are really active - definitely an interesting species!

Hi Melas:

Welcome to the forum!!

Your tortoise are very pretty. I love the design on their carapace. When you get a moment, I'd love to see how you have their habitat set up.

Thank you for the warm welcome! I've been keeping tortoises for over a decade but have never joined any tortoise related forums until tonight!

As far as the way I'm keeping them . . . I'll see about some pics. Basically I have a heated room with various levels of tortoise tables. I have the entire floor (12'x12') designated for a large sulcata, a 4x12' table above that for a group of 1.4 red foots, and a few smaller tortoise tables for various other species. I keep everything outside for about 5-6 months out of the year. For the pancakes I have a small tub in their enclosure filled to 2" below the rim with a mixture of sand, coco fiber, cypress mulch and oyster shells buried in the substrate - I've place a board over the top of this with a whole cut in it. This gives the tortoises a tight place to hide. I also have several cork flats stacked under the basking area. I just don't have the stomach to pile heavy rocks up for them - I'm too afraid of them shifting and squishing the little guys!

How did you learn of the Forum? And what part of the world do you live in? (Inquiring minds want to know!)

I'm on the East Coast of the USA (Pennsylvania).

I'm a professional Web Developer/Graphic Artist/Oracle DBA by trade - I'm currently working on a website for a business and they recommended this site for their visitors so I figured I'd check it out.
