We are moving from Maine to North Carolina in a month (of course it is because of the tortoise). I am unsure if the previous owner has treated the lawn with anything. What should I ask? I know I need to ask about pesticides but what about things like fertilizer? THEN, how long do I have to wait til the lawn is safe for my red foot Zebulun to be on it?

I've read for feeding your torts plants that were grown with fertilizer to give them 3 months of fertilizer free soil before they are safe to feed

If there has been any pesticides/herbicides on the lawn or plants then you should wait an entire year before you allow grazing....fertilized lawn should not be offered either---I know some here will disagree---but this is my post and not theirs....lol :p

I would agree to be more cautious than less. Thankfully he only treated the lawn around the house and not the "back 40". Thank you for your replies.
