Please help my box turtle is swelling

My eastern box turtle started swelling a few weeks ago I thought it was slow because of winter but I looked and it can’t pull its arm into its shell. It also has a hard time moving around and doesn’t seem to ever move its arms.

That could be a sign of a serious problem. I believe a visit to a good vet would be in order.

Agreed. But please make sure it is a vet that knows how to take care of turtles, and not just a 'general' vet.

If you are in the area of MD close to Philadelphia, you could take your turtle to the exotics department at the Univ. of PA Vet School. They have a good staff there.

It is fairly self-explanatory. You just put in your location info and how many miles you are willing to go to get to a good reptile vet to find one
