Around 2 weeks ago, I found this turtle on the side of the road outside my place, took it in and tried taking care of it (It mostly eats cucumbers and kinda refuses to eat many of the things I put in front of it), it usually wanders around and tends to put its face in front of a wall or just tuck and hide in shoes, I feel so bad and wonder if i should release it and let go, I have no idea if it'll die if i left it out in the wild... I have no experience in owning pets and especially turtles since I can never understand their behavior, if someone's an expert please help.
I really can't tell if it's sad/depressed, miss its family or freedom, or that's just the way turtles act
(Is it better to keep it in my balcony or release it in the wild?)

In my opinion, the tortoise should be put back as close to where it was found as possible.

As long as they are native to where you live, they should never be taken from the wild. Yes put it back where you found it away from any roads.

Good for you for letting him go! Sometimes it's hard when they are so cool! He was putting his face against the wall to hide...as best he could anyway......

Initially, where are you as there are only so many places in mainland Europe that your tortoise would be found wild, and could survive in the wild across all seasons. Releasing him elsewhere could mean he cannot feed or survive a winter depending on where you are.

Try googling Tortoise Table Plant Database to find out what you can feed him and look at the care sheets for Mediterranean tortoises on here.

Tortoises need a good enclosure and also rely on UVA and UVB light to stay warm and active and also to metabolise bone growth etc to stay healthy. Depending on where you live this may just mean keeping him outdoors but in a colder climate may require specialist lamps to keep him happy and healthy.

Let us know where you are, that will help a lot. Also have a read of the care sheets and any questions come back to us. Keep asking questions, they are very welcome.

The OP is in Jordan. I believe the tortoise is a native.
