I'd say, Definitely a lot.
You can get one lobe and plant it and they will grow.
If you want some I will gladly give you some lobes. We have plenty at work and I just planted several along with some aloe. Unless you want large plants, but it will be some time before your babies are big enough to place outside and you can have them well established and growing like crazy by then.

when you cut a pad off how long does it last? can you grate some of it and put the rest in the refrigerator?
if you're in the area, I'd gladly take free prickly pear :)

yea I would shoot for free, or even check the produce area in the grocery store. you should be able to stick a pad down into some dirt and it take on roots and grow.

My sister gave me a few pads, I planted them and they grew. They have new branches and have bloomed already. 3 months ?
We have a Auction yard locally that sells Produce as well. And you can buy a case of Cactus pads. Thorns already cut off. I read somewhere you can freeze it...It might be less hassle to do that instead of grow it..
If you plant it.. its best to let to take a cutting and let it callous over before planting.
