Pyramiding or scute developping?

Hi!

My red foot is nearly 2 years old now. I noticed since some months that she seem to have like higher scuse. The middle between scute is lower than the scute itself. The scuse itself is flat.

I think that pyramiding is when the middle(orange) is leveling more than the edge of the scute(black). Is it right?

How is her shell in your opinion?

Thanks!

Right now she looks great but I can see what your concern is. Pyramiding is where the scute is raised higher then the growth lines that are between each scute.
Be sure to have a high humidity, 80% but keeping the top layer dry as RF are prone to shell rot.

The previous growth looks smoother than the current growth. Have you changed the housing or lighting sometime in the last few months?

Yes the housing :( From 36inch X 18inch to 8feet X 2feet. (2x PVC Zen habitats together)
Its much harder now to heat for sure during winter so I added 1x100W and 1x 60W but the overall humidity dropped to 60-65% (taken 5inch from the ground). It was at 70-80% before.

I will need to work on sealing it more.

Thanks for youre observation!

How are you adding moisture/humidity to the current setup? Maybe it's not about sealing it up but about adding more moisture. I have my Russian in a PVC enclosure and keep humidity up with plants and pouring water into the substrate in the corners. It works brilliantly!

I add water in the corner too. I have put 3 flowers pot in it. 1 with fake plant (she love sometime to stay under it) and 2 pot with watered sphagnum moss. That way im sure that she will not eat it.
1 of the heater is covering the water bowl

By sealing it more it will maybe help to restrain heat from leaving and drying less the substrate with the heater.

Now im at 70% in the air.

Hmmmmm…can you post some pictures of your enclosure? There must be something that we‘re missing.
