Hi I was wondering if his shell looked ok? I guess it would be his scutes lines to be more specifically. I noticed it’s starting to lighten up I can’t tell if it’s marbling or something possibly more serious. I took a photos one with glass and one without.
thanks in advance.

Looks fine to me. Looks like some Marbling starting. Lucky you, it's interesting to watch it spread as they grow.

Are you concerned about the color of his shell where it's growing in between the scutes? That's just new growth, it's normal for it to be lighter like that. He will continue to grow little rings of new growth, and some cherry heads can even get color marbling like leopard torts, so it may not stay pure black with the yellow spots in the middle of each scute.

Thanks for the replies. He’s my first tort, just wanted to make sure he was ok.

Don't ever feel stupid for asking questions. Or, even if you do feel stupid, know that it's better to have asked a stupid question than run the risk of not asking an important one!
