I have a butter corn snake that is about 7 months old.

When she is in the feed box after she has "captured" the mouse (thawed) and while she is eating it she "rattles" her tail. Of course her tail touches the box and sounds like a rattle snake. LOL

Has anyone ever heard of this? We have another Corn snake that never did this.

Very common. All the "Gopher" snakes around here do it too. Pretty common among the North American colubrids.

It cracks me up too!

Her tail is so little and it is just going and going. Freaked us out the first time she did it!

Every corn snake I've ever owned has rattled its tail at me at some point or another. The silly little things--they're just trying to make us think they're big, bad rattlesnakes. lol!
