Red flags with number alerts don't go away

TFO is my only social media but I think the notification flags are used in FB, too?? That's the red flag I'm referring to..

Anyway, when I sign on I'll have a reg flag with the number 1 in it on the Alerts word at the top right corner. I click on it to check the alert and the red flag goes away.
I'll have the same thing on my inbox, but it goes away once I check it.

For some reason the little red flag with numbers does not EVER disappear from the MEDIA word inbetween the FORUM and MEMBERS words at the top left.. right now the red flag says "46" and has for the past 2 days. No matter how many time I click it, it wont go away.. I've used my phone and PC to try and check it but the red flag remains.

Is this a kink?

To get rid of the flag you have to go to New Media and click "mark media as viewed"

However, I've turned this feature off for now as I realize it can be irritating.
