Hello all, hope all is well so far for 2021.

I have a quick question, is my baby red foot ok to eat banana? If so what benefits does this provide?

I get conflicting answers from the Internet.

Many thanks in advance.

I’m not sure about benefits besides potassium, but my redfoot is 2.5 and I’ve been feeding them to him for about a year and a half (since I’ve had him). They are his FAVORITE! Took him in for a check up and is apparently an extremely healthy tortoise so I don’t really see the harm that can be done, just don’t feed it in mass amounts or too often because his poop will get runny. If that happens just feed some more fiber !

Banana is fine as part of a varied diet. It's definitely a favorite so don't overdue it out else your tortoise might become addicted lol.

Redfoot can eat a diet high in fruits.
Most other species should not eat any fruit at all.
You can feed fruit every day. Just mix it up and offer a large variety of other food items as well.
With the almost endless variety of foods they can eat, take advantage of that and get creative.
It's one of the best reasons why Redfoot are so fantastic
