I can't tell what kind of red foot tortoise my 2 year old is. It is 3.4 inches right now straight carapace length. It has a semi circular scale behind its eyes but not a perfect circle like Venezuelans. They are very light orange but a bit brighter by the cheeks. Any thoughts?

It has a light Plantronics btw so I'm assuming it's some kind of northern.

It's hard to tell at a young age. If you're worried about different care, I would believe it is all the same, however I have never raised a Redfoot.

Thanks, I was assuming it would be mostly the same especially for all northerns. I have heard that cherry heads need higher humidity and different heat.

Yeah I'm unsure about exact birthrate but he's somewhere in between 1.5 to 2

Without being able to see his nose scales or his plastron I'm thinking Northern.
Coloration means very little except for a dark plastron

Also, on his Plastron he seems to hive some shell rot, I can't get rid of it. I brush him with a firm toothbrush with dawn after soaks and it won't go away

Shell rot is a fungus like Athletes Foot. Use Lamisil or another fungus cream and keep the enclosure clean and not too wet until it has been cleared up.

Yep. Northern.
And yes to a mild case of fungus.
Its all too common in RF.
I use DOLLAR STORE ATHLETES FOOT CREAM.
Not because I'm that cheap. But because it works just as well as the $12 stuff.
It'll kill fungus fast. But the scarring will take months or longer to fade away.
