Would like opinions on what you think my male is. He was a TRN rescue which i have adopted. I was doing some research and i just dont think he is a redfoot, thats why i an asking here.
He has absolutely no yellow on him , his colors range from red to orange.
Any guesses on his age?

My baby redfoot has no yellow on him.. maybe he is just high color! Could be a cherry but I will let the experts answer that one. Good luck! :)

Does not look like a cherryhead to me. Missing the "elbow" leg scale, bulbous nose, and head-scale coloration.
http://www.tortoiseforum.org/thread-41582.html

It is a BEAUTIFUL northern redfoot!

See how this center nose scale bulges out a bit? Also, very little patterning to colored head scales. If the scales on the head have color, they're pretty much all red/orange/yellow in eastern ("cherryhead") populations. Northern and Guyanan exhibit distinct patterning on their head scales.

Cherryhead means brazilian...A.k.a different variant (or haplo-type if you want to get complicated) of a red foot. I would guess he's the northern variant. He could be a cherry without the tell-tale signs though...Not like there are to many "pure" brazilians out there anyways.
Length would need to be known to guess his age. But if he was a TRN rescue, then his previous diet was likely insufficient and improper. Basically, growth could have taken a lot longer then it should have...In simple terms, he could be 5, he could be 12, he's probably between 5-8.

They were all simple questions. Do we have to make them so complicated? He is 8 inches, his health was not very bad. So again im guessing between 5 and 7

Oh sorry, I added like 3 extra sentences of information. Your post insinuated that cherry heads and red foots were different species, or subspecies, but clearly your contempt towards me will cause you to ignore or refuse to learn from anything I say.
In proper care, 4 years.
Your welcome.

Your obvious contempt to me clearly clouds your judgement of what I have said. You asked the question. I gave you the answer. Nothing inappropriate. Don't ask the question if you don't want to be answered.

Mainey, it's tough to provide an age estimate for your tortoise. The reason it's difficult is tortoises all grow at different rates and achieve variable adult sizes. I have two that are weeks apart in age, yet one is notably larger than the other. Factors such as genetics, diet, egg size, and husbandry practices can skew our perception of age-to-size ratios. There is no constant parameter for estimating the age.

Without a SCL, it makes it even more difficult to gauge, but it looks like that tortoise has a 6-8 inch SCL? If so, I think your 5-7 year ballpark is reasonable.

Thats a redfoot for sure, I have 2 that have the elbow scales and red/orange color as well but are still redfoots even with different markings on there plastron. Also are you sure its a male? Females have fat tails and larger half moons as well but its probably still to young to tell. Ive had 8 inch females turn into males with age myself so I never really know till im positive.
Age is a tough one as well, I would say at least 3, I have a 10 inch female thats just over 5 but fed very well and came from a large enclosure and an 8 inch female that is well over 10 years old so its really hard to pin point
