Hello everyone! :)

My hatchling tort seems to always eat its poop right after it goes. is this normal behavior for a red foot tort? i can imagine its not good to eat your own poop so i try my best to collect it before he goes but I'm not always around to do so. are there any ill long term effects if this behavior continues? will it ever stop? thanks!

Feeding: once a day fill up his plate with veggies and allow him to eat whenever he likes. left overs are disposed :)

THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Hi and welcome. :)

That's normal behavior for a hatchling. Gross, but normal. It's not harmful.

It is normal, however, you should try to pick it up and not let him eat it if possible.
