Having my torts only since may 27th not only have I leaned a lot about Russian torts but about a new passion - tortoises anything. As I learn I am create better spaces for my two little guys. Here are a few pics of the most recent remodels :). Please provide input as that's how I've come this far :).

Outdoor - both under supervision and mr t is out almost all day most days :).
I'd never find baby t so he doesn't go out for as long.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I want to eventually do a house for them and maybe allow out all night but for now they come in at night or when it's not warm enough.

Very nice.

Digital probe thermometers are much better than the dial ones. BUT if you are going to use the dial ones, place them at tortoise level just above the substrate instead of at the top of the tank.

Does the fencing along the brick help you keep the torts in? I remember you were having "escape" issues.

I have a digital heat thermometer as well. I just put those in when I first set up the enclosures.

Yes the fence which I added today is to help keep him in, will know tomorrow of it works - keeping my finders crossed.

Is the picket fence working out? I think I might add that to my outdoor space too. I'm just worried that he might be able to climb it.... ? Was it expensive?

Looks fantastic. Hope the fence helps. If not, consider putting a small perpendicular 2-3" lip around the inside, about 12" high.

Is that a shed? Very convenient! I can imagine a tortoise door into that with an inside area blocked off with basking lights ;) ;)
