For anyone along the Gulf Coast and/or near lower Alabama, there is a reptile rescue in Mobile, AL, called Chaos & Critters Exotic Animals Rescue. They are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, of which I am a board member of. So if you OR if you know of anyone who is trying to find a home for a tortoise in close to Mobile and Baldwin County, AL, feel free to point them our way.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Great to know I often think we should have a non profit rescue list going so people can find the rescues.

Great info and I agree. I wish there were more non-profits out there to help care for these brilliant species. Thanks Michael

No problem. Right now, we have a "permanent" rescue tortoise for our educational presentations, a 3-yr-old sulcata named Apu, as well as the little juvenile I am currently fostering.

Another one close by is the Alabama Reptile Rescue Sanctuary in Birmingham, AL.
