Hey guys so today I rescued this poor tortoise named CC from a lady that couldn't care for him anymore. This poor guy was living in the tiniest enclosure with a piece of carpet for his bedding with no hides or anything.

He is 12 years old and I imagine he lived this way his entire life =(

I am having a hard time figuring out the species of tortoise that he is and was wondering if any of you could point me in the right direction so I can get him the proper care this poor guy deserves.

I will post some pictures hopefully you guys can help me out

That is a three toed box turtle. The care is the same as for the eastern box turtle.

I agree it's a 3toed box and if you want it to eat give it a worm if the worm moves around Evan if the boxy isn't hungry he will grab for the movement .

He needs a daily soak and access to water. I bet he will spend a lot of time in it. They are land turtles, but they spend time in streams and shallow pools of water, often several visits on and off through the day.
He may need to be better hydrated before he shows much interest in food.

So glad you are taking him in!
