I am trying to find a Sulcata Tortoise in Eastern Oklahoma or Western Arkansas. I would be happy to rescue one that needs rehoming, or to find a reliable breeder who has Juveniles or older. I have done a lot of research but am not sure I am ready for a hatchling, so would prefer one a little larger. Thank you for your responses.

Takes a special person to adopt from a rescue. Often these animals were mistreated, abandoned, or neglected. My local rescue rarely has torts or I would have gone there first to get mine. They had a huge, badly pyramided sully there once but I didn't act quickly enough.

Hatchlings can be a handful and require a lot of care and attention the 1st year. I don't recommend them for beginners unless you have the time and resources to devote to them. They can get very expensive to raise them properly. I spent nearly $2k on mine so far in its first year, but I treat mine not only as a family member, but as my hobby as well. Hobbies tend to get expensive. Lol
