I recently adopted a redfoot tortoise, I believe she's female, is it a good idea to let her roam around my Livingroom? Also I have a 6 mnth old son, and I dunno if I let the tort roam that it could make my son sick, I've heard all about salmonella but she's 7" and I think that only applies to turtles under 4" but I could be completely off... I made her a new habitat that is 6x2x1 I live in ohio so she's indoors for 3/4 of the yr.
And she seems to really like it. Thanks Kelly [TURTLE][HEAVY BLACK HEART]️

I uploaded some pics, after reading these forums I realize she has some pyramiding :( I soak her every 3 days and have a humidifier now, in her enclosure the humidity Is at ImageUploadedByTortForum1389647635.769447.jpg74% and heat is 94f degrees is there anything I else I can do to help her... Sorry for posting so much just trying to do the very best I can for her.

Not a good idea to let a tortoise roam in a house. Too many things can be eaten and make the tortoise sick. As for your child, just have him wash hands after touch the tortoise.

I wouldn't risk letting the tort free-roam. Also, 94F is a bit on the high side. Mid to low 80s is about the range you should be striving for.

Okies thank you, the 94 was basically under the heat emitter, it's around 80-85 in enclosure. I appreciate the advice :)

This is an idea i got from someone on another forum but haven't tried it . I plan on it when the pools come out thus summer. My 2 year old son loves Tortuga. He always wants me to lift him up so he can see her in the tort table. You can keep a large plastic baby pool and have something easy and light like outdoor carpet to put down in the pool. You can then use it as an interaction place you can put away when not using.
