Russell and Sheldon!

Hello,

My name is Russell and recently got my hyper little horsefield tortoise named sheldon.

Sheldon is one and is a lot more active than I thought a tortoise would be!

Only problem being he wont eat the pellets I put in his bowl. he will eat lettuce all day if i kept feeding him it. He also only seems to have 1 eye! And a flap of skin on his neck? Do they shed skin there?

Anyway here are a couple of pictures!

Welcome to the Tortoise Forum!!

I like to see a good clear picture of his eye that you think isn't there.

Go the the store, and in the produce section, pick up a bag of Spring Mix from the packaged lettuces section. Then pick up a bunch of one of the following: turnip greens, escarole, endive, kale, mustard greens, dandelion greens. Every time you have to buy new food, choose a different bunch from the above-mentioned group. When you feed Sheldon, put down a bit of spring mix and a few leaves of whatever you bought. Sheldon will thrive if you start feeding him a nice variety of dark, leafy greens. And don't worry about the manufactured diet. That's not necessary for him.
