My russian tortoise was eating this morning and when i looked he had a wood chip in his mouth, i went to pull it and he swallowed it, i could tell it bugs him because he keeps moving his little food over his mouth and opening his jaw like it bugs him but i cant pull it out. Anyone had this happen to them before?

That's why I like the coco coir substrate no chips to be swallowed. How big was the chip in relation to his throat or head?

Try to see if you can open his mouth and see the wood. You can use a pop cycle stick to help open his mouth and to hold it open. If it looks like it is stuck, I personally would try to slowly pull it out with a pair of tweezers, but that's me, not sure what other would do, like @Yvonne G who rehabs a lot of torts.

Oh, I would also try a good soak fI'dSo and see if he drinks some water if that wouldn't help it move down.
