I have a 7 month old sulcata tortoise & I'm trying to make his indoor enclosure more colorful/interesting. I was thinking about planting some flowers or succulents, but I'm not quite sure what is safe for him to eat. Any suggestions?

Any store bought flowers or plants will be full of systemic pesticides that last a year. You'll need to grow them from seeds, or find long established plants to cut from at friend's, family or neighbor's houses.

Use pots or your tortoise will quickly trample and eat all of it.

If you have a look on this website www.thetortoisetable.org.uk they are great for showing you all types of flowers that tortoises can eat - I use it for my Sully's. From what I have seen, there information has matched to advice given on here, so I think they are legit.

I'm not sure if this is a universal thing, but I have found the sales that people have where they sell plants at the end of their driveway have been great for this, I always check with the seller re pesticides but because they have grown them in their own garden they are usually fine.

Flowers and succulents would be pretty. If you see houseplants etc at the store that you like, you can always just keep them out of your baby's reach. A lot of plants will need grow lights to live in your enclosure or you'll need to take them out and rotate them into natural sunlight often. But you could try shade loving garden and house plants. Some good shade loving plants could be some ferns (Boston, Asparagus, Ostrich), Hostas do well, African violets also work well in enclosures. One thing that is handy about Hostas and Ostrich ferns is that you can often by them as dried doremant bareroot varieties, so you don't have to worry about pesticides and fertilizers as much.

If you're looking for other ideas, here's a few lists that may help you out...
