La Verne to Riverside is approx. 31 miles (approx. 37 minutes), via Yahoo Maps.

Also, make sure to call first to see when he is available, as he is currently listed in the lost and found.

Ok I am calling about it tomorrow and will be going down there if it is still available, has anyone ever adopted a turtle from them before? do I call and mention the turtles number to see if it is still there? is it 10 dollars like their site says for small animals or is it more for turtles? how much paperwork is involved? Any answers would be helpful and if I get it I will take some pics of it when I get home, wish me luck.

I have never adopted from the Riverside Shelter, but I have adopted RES from the LA County Shelters.

Yes, call them with the animal's ID number and check to make sure he is still there, and to see when he is going to be available.

It should just be the adoption fee (might be the same as "small animals"), showing them your ID, and sign the paperwork (not a full out contract), just something stating you are paying for and adopting the animal.

He's currently still listed online in the "lost & found" section.

He looks like he has some old dog chew damage. If the hole is old too I wouldn't worry about it. People used to drill a hole and hook a line to it to keep the turtle from running off. It's really no big thing. He sure does look scared tho. Some 3 toed have that color on the body and a dull carapace, so he could might maybe a 3 toed as well...:p

the vet is gonna go inside (endoscopy) I guess and look around and make sure there is no internal damage and then they will call me back, so I am hoping for today on the adoption.
