Hi,

I just noticed a little scrape on the top scute of my tortoise. I have attached a picture. Should I be concerned? I’m wondering how the shell develop with that layer scraped off.

Leave it alone. It looks like it will be fine.

Leave alone and check what caused it and make adjustments to avoid any more. I use coconut oil on the scutes to moisturise along with water soaks all help smooth shell growth.

Shell looks a little dry. Have you been soaking that tortoise daily for 20-30 minutes? If not, I would recommend doing so as it might help keep this area from getting worse and/or keep this type of thing from happening in the future.
