So most people are saying female but I think male.
His tail can protrude out under the carapace and he's only young. None of our adult females tails are long enough to do this.
Also while his anal schute is wide it is more V than her obvious U.
He also has a very very slight concave dip at the rear of his plastron.

Here's him (the small one with one of our females).

I would guess that they are both female on both. Can you get some clearer shots of the one you think is a male...

Yeah I'm going male too, his Gulars are fairly pronounced for a tort his size, rear spurs almost the same size as our adult females and you can see his tail is longer than a female 4 times his size. Also has the tapered end which should lengthen as he grows...............if I'm right:)

Well, I'm positive its female. The anal scutes on male a tortoise definitely point out. While the female's point inward. These are way more inwardly pronounced than even your bigger female.

Really, I've never heard that with sulcatas. I only ever heard of the U shape verses the V shape. not the direction they point. That certainly puts a new perspective on things. I'm still baffled by its tail and Gulars for such a small tortoise.

Here is a good test...at that size you should be able to rinse him off in the sink with Luke warm water, running down the bottom of the shell and across the tail. He will take a dump and show his junk.
