9E90E7A6-E731-4A74-AAEE-F6EC6DB1E6DB.jpegHello,
I wanted to ask if the peeling skin is shedding, or some skin problem?
Also do you think new growth is coming out smooth?
I have had Lilly for some 9 months. Originally in a pair, but she was not doing well so I rehomed the other one and Lilly has been doing much better since. But what about the skin?
Thank you,
Take care
Marie

One doesn't usually see skin peeling away like that on tortoises. Has the tortoise been given any injections of late? But since the skin underneath isn't raw, I'm guessing there isn't much to worry about.

Nice smooth shell growth.

Thank you. No she (he) has not had any injections.
She had worn count done a few months ago and she was treated for pin worms.
I have another worm-count kit which I will be sending off in next couple of days.

I give her a bath every day or every other day at least. So I worry maybe the water was too hot and she got scalded? But hopefully not. I keep the temperature same as I do for our children.
The skin underneath looks ok, even though maybe a bit pink?
Wee soul. I will keep an eye on her (him).
Thanks again ??

I see peeling tortoise skin like that here on the forum, but I never see it in my own tortoises. I don't know why it happens, or what makes it happen. That answer has eluded me for years. It doesn't seem to be a problem, and the tortoises grow and function normally.

You've done an exceedingly excellent job with pyramiding prevention. This is one of the smoothest leopards of this size I can recall. Very well done! :)

Awww, thanks! It is probably because I have been trying to follow your care sheet ☺️
I got her (him) when they were a year and a bit and starting to pyramid a bit.
And also it was you and others here who recommended me to split them. Lilly has improved so much since then (I think it was September or so).
Thanks. I will keep an eye on her and the skin anyway.
