You are right Mrs./Ms. Maggie, your study and experience will teach all of us the healthy way of keeping a tortoise...
    thank you.

    Respecting you here,

  5. Thank you for the compliment, but it wasn't me. I was just a small part of more experienced keepers who put 2 and 2 together and discovered how humidity, exercise, a good diet and strong UVB all work together to stop pyramiding. They ALL must work together, leave out one part and you'll have a pyramided animal....And now it's a matter of teaching those of you with hatchling Sulcata how to keep them correctly and put an end to pyramiding once and for all...we are just a small part of a bigger movement...

This is my baby Slowsky. She is ten years old. Some people say she is pretty small for her age, which might have to do with her previous owners care. But I love her and think she is perfect <3 ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1402982308.928494.jpg

Maybe the previous owner doesn't know how to take good care of the tort.

Yes they fed her dog food mostly, which is a big no no. Luckily they have her away to my grandmother and that is how I got her. She was told she was a box turtle! lol.

Here are my three during that snow storm we had in the southeast this year. Levi is the big guy, Abrams is on the left and Panzer is on the right.

Had to block my Shredder in his humid hide at night per Toms suggestion. But just look at that face peeking out making me feel guilty. He loves his hide now but still block him in as his heating pad is under there and dont want him to get chilly. I just adore this little sully.

Tom is a good guy. I always love to read his thread and follow what is in it.

but in my opinion, just cover most of your enclosures top and put heating element inside of it. that is much better i think. tortoises loves to roam around and explore your enclosure. and based on my study heating pad is not a good idea. it is better to use lights or night glo lights at night. its better. just cover the top of enclosure, like plywood. it will trap the heat inside your enclosure. if it is really cold in your place, use higher wattage lights.
