As per prepaid preorders at the beginning of the season, this locale of Western Hermann's tortoise were all spoken for. However, as usual, I held a handful back for myself. I have decided to part with these based on the confirmation of sexes on the ones we have already been raising. We simply don't need these now and can wait until next year to raise more.

They are from the Madonie on the Italian island of Sicily and the adults are the ONLY known of their kind in the entire USA right now. Paperwork and approvals were an absolute nightmare to get the adults over here several years ago.

This locale of Testudo hermanni hermanni are the most unique and are said to actually be up for proposal as a new subspecies in the near future. Why is this? Well for a number of reasons. We can start by talking about how they have spurs on their thighs like a Greek tortoise (T. graeca ssp). They are in no way, shape or form a hybrid with Greek tortoises but are instead their own special thing hence the name "Sicilian Spurred". A very light colored look with lemon yellow to an almost fluorescent greenish hue is normally associated with these. We had our adult group genetically tested in 2015 along with all the other locales kept here and they of course proved to be of the purest form and perfectly placed in their designated locale.

For detailed information on this fascinating strain, please visit my site and the page I have up for them here: http://www.hermannihaven.com/#!sicilian-tortoises/chld

These animals are studbooked in the North American Regional Studbook for T. h. hermanni and buyers will receive those numbers once a purchase is made.

*Price is $850 each shipped, or $3,000 shipped for the 5 which are temperature sexed as a 2.3. There are 3 bloodlines in this group. I am way, way more interested in seeing this cherry picked group stay together so please be advised that those interested in the group will take precedence over those only interested in a single animal.

As always, my wife and I are here for lifetime support.
