Signs of UV damage?

Are there signs that too much UV in the environment has caused burns? Can hatchlings get a "sun tan"?

My guy's face is darker. Same color as his coco shreds.

Sometimes coco can stain your tortoise, it's nothing really to worry about it's a tan or a stain from the substrate. If it is from the substrate you can wash it off very easily.

Thanks, that's good to know. It did not come right off with some splashes of water but it does look like the substrate stained him. He burrowed into it a couple days ago and sat in there for a good while.

Yea my leopard tortoise has stains from his coco substrate but it goes away when I give him a bath

I just read your pic heavy article about how you feed. Your animals must be very happy! French pastry chef of tortoise feeding :)

It's something I truly love to do!!! I love cutting up fruits for the Red Foot Tortoise and love to pick weeds and grind up some fresh cut grass!!! Today I'm mowing and all the shredded up grass Is going to be feed to the little guys and some mazuri for desert.
