Around October I got my first tortoise. he's only about 4-5 months old.
I love him to death, I've done all my research but I've noticed he sleeps . . . A lot. I usually see him crawl around his cage maybe twice a day and when I feed him and soak him. Other than that he is in his house snoozing away. Is it natural for them to sleep that much?

African spurred? As in (Geochelone sulcata) or African spur-thighed (Testudo graeca). I agree with Krissy it sounds like he is too cold...but it could also be simply because he is a baby and baby anything sleep a lot, be it chelonia or human. As long as your husbandry is alright, you know he is warm enough, and getting enough UVB rays. So check your husbandry and go from there...
