Hi guys I've noticed recently my tortoise is staying in his private compartment more during the day and cumming out around tea time and eating then staying under his lamp for the rest if the night is this normal just he didn't used to sleep as long until I gave him extra bedding in his compartment were he sleeps my tort is around 1 year old and is a marginated

What temperatures do you have round the enclosure now? As the weather changes outdoors temperatures change inside to and you need to keep checking them.

The 4 important temps are: Under the basking lamp, cool end, warm end and the overnight ,low temperature.

It's normally around 25 under his lamp he's kept in the living room so it's never below around 16-17

You've got marginated tortoises right?

It's not warm enough under that spot lamp. It needs to be 30-35C under the basking lamp.

There are 4 important temperatures. Let us know: Warm end and cool end as well (you've told us overnight and basking)

How could I achieve that temp ? Am I going to need another lamp ?

Either you can lower the bulb so it's a bit closer to the ground, or you get a higher wattage bulb.

Ive lowered it for now and I'll order a higher wattage bulb thanks for your help

Whats the height you have it at?
You dont want it to close were the tortoise will hurt itself and get a burn .?

It's at a safe height my tort is only small ATM so it's to high for him/ she to burn
