I have a baby redfoot about 6 month old . I just noticed that parts of its shell fell a bit soft when I press down on it slightly. Should i be worried or does it get harder as it grows?

What are some of the contributing factors to soft shell

The main contributing factor is no vitamin d3 to make the calcium work.

At 6 months old the shell should be hard. Are you using calcium with d3? And are they getting sunlight or UV rays? They can't process the calcium without UV/sun which is what will harden the shell up.

I have a cattle bone in but i never see him eat it. Should get the vita powder to sprinkle on food?

He has a uv light but he is always in his hid so he does not get much of it. I take him outside and he walks around in the sun every time i soak him. Ima get the vitamin powder and take him in the sun more often.

How damp is his substrate? I could be too wet even for an RF...

Its really damp i would say even soaked and he spends all day in it. Could that be whats making his shell soft?
