- I got my true p.pardalis I’m early February. The day I brought him/her home he weighed 44 grams. I weighed him today at 70 grams. About 2 months. Does this sound normal? Should he be growing at a faster pace? He is extremely picky with his food, refuses certain greens, refuses to eat anything with Mazuri on it unless I hide it well. But I have been doing my best to give him the varied diet and throw grass clippings in there. He hats at least one daily soak for 20-30 minutes. Sometimes he gets a second one. His enclosure is a closed tortoise house with humidity around 75-85. Heat is on. A thermostat at 82. He has a MVB at one end so he can bask. Am I doing anything “wrong” or is there anything else I can do better? He looks great. Very active. And likes to relieve himself in his soaks. I’ve posted a few pics of him. The last pic is a comparison showing him when I got him and now. Any advice or help would be appreciated greatly. Thanks.

There is no comparison way to tell about a tortoise's growth. They all grow differently. Almost doubling his weight in a couple months sounds pretty good to me.

What temperature do you have under your MVB? It needs to be 95-100F directly under that (the MVB must hang vertically and be unobstructed)

We are happy to look over photos of your enclosure and lighting to see if there are any tweaks we would recommend.

I recommend you read the TFO care guides and compare them with your setup.

They're written by species experts working hard to correct the outdated information widely available on the internet and from pet stores and, sadly, from some breeders and vets too.

The mvb is vertical and temp is 105/110 depending time of day and humidity. He regulates where he is comfortable. I’m pretty sure my enclosure is perfect for him right now. I’ve read the guide and followed most of it. I guess each tortoise grows at his or her own pace. Thanks for the remarks all.
