Recently I’ve noticed my year and a half Hermann’s hasn’t been thriving the way he previously was. Slight weight loss but otherwise very normal. Slight drop in appetite but basking and going to the bathroom Normal. I’d like to move him to an outdoor enclosure to see how this effects his overall well-being. This was recommended to me by someone I definitely trust with years of experience in this specific species.
So we live in south Texas. Luckily it’s later in the year but still it’s 87 degrees out right now and even in the shaded side of his enclosure we’re pushing 100 degree ground temps. And that’s a super chill day down here not 100+ air temp. Does anyone have any experience in these kind of conditions? Obviously he’ll burrow if he gets too hot and he has constant water and degrees of shade but is there more I need to do to make our abnormal temps more suitable to what his species can handle?
