Hi folks:

I just bpught some moss.

Here is my plan for a humid hide; i want to use a tupperwear container with a hole cut out. I will then add the moss. I am using the Zoo Med carpet stuff so I don't want to put the damp moss on it therefore I plan to keep the lid on the container. How does this sound? I know some use sponges but the idea of moss seems more natural and he can snuggle and bury himself in it.. What do you think?

Also, how should I prep the moss? soak, then ring it well until most water is gone - this is what I've heard.

How often should it be changed?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

BTW, the tort is a hatchling Hermanns

Keeping lid on hide is fine. Soaking and wringing is correct. You should check periodically and mist the hide bring humidity back up. I replace mine when it is broken down into small pieces, removing waste products during the periodic checks.
