Picky Eater

I'm not trying to be mean its just reality. Iceberg lettuce has little to no nutritional lettuce. Try some cactus and order some mazuri today
I get mine from thetortoisecafe.com or tortoisecafe.com like $8-$10 shipped to your door

Hi Nanoon:

Forum ettiquette says that if you have a question of your own, and not pertaining to the other person's question, that you start your own thread. So I've moved your question about your tortoise only eating iceburg lettuce here to it's own thread.

Try offering the tortoise some of the packaged lettuces.

Try grating or blending the iceburg lettuce over other foods and he might eat them,i had the same trouble with one of mine,he would only eat cucumber,so i would grate it over other foods and now he eats everything

First things first, Iceburg lettuce has little to almost no nutritional value what so ever. Something i would try is feeding him something that is similar to iceburg lettuce like, red, gree, and romaine lettuce. Tortoises cant go weeks w/ out getting fed but you'll want to start soaking him everyday. As long as they are hydrated then you sould be fine. If you can get a hold of baby food such as carrots, you can add that to his water when you are soaking him so he can get at least some nutrients. when it comes to feeding time, try warming his saucer or what ever you place his food in, this sometimes helps, then place the selected food you have for him. This is going to be a tough week for you but stick to it! Remember, your the one who knows better. So you'll have to just man it out and let him know that this is the food that he's going to be fed and stick w/ it. They will eventually get hungry and eat whats ever on the table. here is website to check out other food alternative that might be accessible in your area.

Hope this information helps. GOOD LUCK!

Basil is ok once in a while. It is said to have insect repelling qualities, and to be toxic to mosquitoes, but there are no known hazards to mammals. It might not be appetizing to most tortoises because of the strong aroma and taste, but there are no known hazards to reptiles and we think no harm will come if it is occasionally nibbled or fed as a very small part of a varied diet.

Erucula.... i have no idea.....

lol
