Is there any veggie I should avoid feeding my Aldabra? I'm getting Buddy and Hope to have him weighed during transport at a vets office. I'm guessing Buddy weighs 130#. I was thinking about planting trailing spinach.

I'm afraid spinach isn't a good choice, as it binds the calcium to it through the digestive process. It's ok to feed occasionally, but not for him to graze on the plants daily.

The best diet for your new tortoise is grazing on the weeds and grasses that grow in his pen. Since he's such a big boy, you can see if he'll eat hay. Any of the grass hays will do.

Hays, orchard and alfalfa is what ALDABRAMAN feeds. They also will get treats of pumpkin, green and red peppers, water melon. Cactus and Mazuri tortoise diet can be added to a weekly diet, once or twice a week. Not sure how often he feeds that, plus they graze.
