I had my star Yoda now for a year next month. She'd been the only one for 10 months. She's shy and eats very little. She also sleeps a lot she will not bask because it exposes her, in short she would just stay hidden as long as she could. She usually eats at night when everyone is asleep.

Now she has a companion, another star (bigger). Her attitude changed a lot. She's not very shy anymore, she eats a lot. When she sees me she actually comes 'running' trying to out run the other tort sometimes even knocking her over (the other one is bigger). She would get super excited with food but often comes running to me and bypassing the food tray because she's looking up at me. When i try to direct her to where her food is, she squirms a lot trying to find the food. She associated my hand that it carries food, so yesterday I was cleaning their pen and she bit me! She also bask a lot now all stretched out too. walks around a lot and stays out of her hide during the day, she would just sit and look around all the time.

These are positive changes right? Or it's very odd and she's distress because of the new addition and I should separate?

Am i obsessing? LOL, i'm a newbie owner and I find them fascinating! They live in our terrace and there's a sliding door where we could see them and they couldn't see us. That's where my little nephew and I sit for a while to watch them in their pen hee hee ;)

OMG, I want that tortoise!
Haha, for me it sounds very positive. :) Maybe it's because she has more competition for food?
Either way, it's a great change! Maybe I should get a 2nd star. :) (Which I will at some point anyways)

Maybe she wants to make sure you aren't replacing her so she is sucking up, lol! It does sound like a nice change :)

So far in my personal observations I find this typical behaviour. They need some friends to positively thrive. ;)

Great! I was hoping it would be! :) It's very hard to tell with torts. You see them walking around, you think they are just exercising or happily exploring but it could also be because they are uncomfortable and trying to find a good place to hide.

Hahha I know what thats like. One of mine is very restless on occasions, firstly I thought ants were nipping it then I though it was too hot then I thought it was having a last fling before it went jumping over rainbows, but all the time its a perfectly healthy little live wire of a Star. Love your post:D

IMHO... Stars should not be kept alone... when i got my first... he was exactly the same... but changed over night once he had some company... they seem to thrive better in groups... and need abit of competition for the food...

Absolutely stells. Also movement seems to excite their prey drive for plant munching. Mine used to do a lot of bathing sleeping and secrete eating, now she is honestly naughty, she will gobble up everything and then hog the bath, her little neck puffing up and her head bobbing. Her mate is bigger than her and a bit of an athlete but she is suddenly queen of the castle and he does all the running eating on they way.

I cant believe a little Star would bite thats tremendous kinpink.
