I'm wondering if my sulcata has a shell fungus?? And what can I do to treat it? I thought he got stuck and pulled off part of his shell but my dad thinks its fungus.

That looks like it could be fungus or maybe burns from heat lamps too close?

I've never seen it on sulcatas, but I've seen it on aquatic turtles. Since sulcatas aren't in water must of the time I can't be sure if it's a fungus or what. But, whatever it is, it looks like all the scutes are about to fall off! In my opinion, it has to be fungus causing this. I would NOT put any athlete foot medications on it. Have anyone read the stuff those things have as ingredients?

Looks like dry rot. And a very bad case of it. I would not use anything on it at this time. A vet ahould be inquired for this.

Welcome to the Forum, kayric1025.

I doubt it is any kind of fungus. It looks like some sort of injury. Your tortoise needs to be seen by a vet. When the keratin comes off like that what you're left with is exposed bone. I've seen something that looks like this when the tortoise's light/heat source is hanging down too close to the tortoise.
