I have recently came into possession of a sulcata tortoise. I know they get very big. I don’t have the space or money to take care of this poor tort. I don’t want any money just a nice home for him/her (not sure the gender). I live in the Baltimore area.

If you turn him on his back and take a picture that shows the whole underside area including the tail, we can i.d. the sex.

This tortoise shows all female characteristics. But all young tortoises do. So depending on the size, if it 's a fairly small tortoise, those characteristics may change to male as it gets bigger.
