Hi All,
I have an 80lb sully that I have had for about 4 years now. When I got home from work the other day I went out to check on him and he had red on the side of his face. I tried to wipe it off with a cloth and noticed it wasn't berries that I thought he may have found, it was blood. Today when I got home from work I noticed a small spacing gap from the top (bottom of the upper area) jaw and his upper area of the beak. He seems to be eating just fine, he is no more or less ornery than usual? I know this is confusing...I just went to go get a pic and he has gone into his borrow for the night. I have included a pic of him from last week. You can see in the middle of the red is the area that concerns me. It is no longer bloody, no signs of dirt or infection....should I take him to the vet?

I would just keep it clean and keep,an eye on it. I would not take him to a vet unless it gets infected, but then be careful what they want to use on him. Maybe pm Yvonne G or Tom or Tortadise, before using a medication. So many can be bad for tortoises that a vet may not know, unless it's an experienced tortoise vet, not just reptile or exotic.
