Tank Update (4/24)

I thought I'd give everyone a little update on Tank.
So, recently, Tank has learned that he can move (and mate with) my rocks.
He's also learned to walk OVER the bushes, rather than around them.
His appetite is growing, and I suspect he's gaining weight. He eats Mazuri twice a week, 2 1/2 cups on Monday and Thursday. He eats weeds, grass, cactus and whatever I have on hand other days. He also has decided that he likes the sprinklers!

I did give Barry a call a few weeks ago, and sent him pictures!
Yes! Tank LOVES his house! He goes in and out all day! He knocked over the flower pot, but its okay, I redid it.

Hello Tank.

I better start to "Sulcata proof" my yard from now even my "little Pig" is only one year old.

Watch out all the Sulcata owner. This is what we will face in 5, 10, 15 of time.......

Such a lovely tortoise! Thanks so much for sharing! My Mac decided that it was going to be too cold in the other night and voluntarily went to his heated house rather than into his burrow. I love these guys!

Tank has a special hole in the bush! He jams into it when he doesn't want to walk ALLLLL the way to his house (50ft). What a lazy bum!
They are better than dogs!

I think the one downside is the ridiculous amount of waste they produce.

This was left between 2:30 and 3 today.

Wow tank is very handsome! Very smooth too. Do you have any idea how old he is?
And yes I agree about the waste! My guy is only 3 lbs but I am still amazed by his! Where does it all stay?!

Nice looking tortoise Tiffany. Does tank shake his butt in the water . Every time I turn on the misting system Harry walks over to the and shakes his butt . It's to funny .

Thanks! He DOES shake his butt! I was wondering if any other tort did that... Glad to know he isn't alone! He loves the sprinklers. He gets caught on them when he sticks his face in them, and then PULLS! He keeps breaking them!

I'm thinking between 20 and 40. Its a rough estimate, but it's all I got. This guy can sit there and eat a good 5 pounds of food a day! Probably more if I allowed it! It never ends!

Tiffany...I just want you to know...I think Tank is GREAT! I think Heather is even GREATER for finding him for you! You are giving him the best home...

Now...my only gripe...please photograph him from ground level. He's a magnificent beast...and photographing him at his own level will only make him look more majestic!
