hi Forum!
here are some pics of my testudo hermanni hercegovinensis I was used to breed in Italy.
This is not recognized as a hermanni subspecies but it should be, I like to say that is a geographical variation of testudo hermanni boettgeri, in fact there are many differences between this "subspecies" and testudo hermanni boettgeri

as you can see on the first picture of the male, but in all the female as well, they grow without the inguinal scale.

This is the main difference, however not the only one, they grow smaller than thb, the females lay less legg than both thh and thb only 2 times per season, and I think they carry more green in the head (but this is only my opinion:))
here are the females
the first one, medium size

the oldest one, don't ask me how old she is because I really don't know

and the smallest one

I should have a pic of a hatchling comparing with a testudo hermanni boettgeri.. I need only to find it :D

Oh, they are so beautiful. Did they have to stay in Italy? I suppose so, you had said you were going to the San Diego show to look for your first USA tortoise. Absolute beauties.

Have you seen this wonderful website yet? http://www.hermannihaven.com/ He is a TFO member: HermanniChris

they have to stay in Italy because of the paperworks they need to move also from an address to another in Italy.
