National Geographic Channel on the Super/Natural series season 1 episode 5 that first aired on September 21 2022 did a story about the Giant Amazon River Turtle. If you can find it it's worth watching. It explains with videos how thousands of of the egg laying females gather at a certain area and when the conditions are right they all come ashore at the same time to lay at the same time so all the eggs hatch together which gives the hatchlings a higher survival rate while getting to the water. Also the mother turtles are waiting for them to guide them away. They said this mass hatching was around 4 million babies.

This is super fascinating! I hope this species can help change some perceptions about our shelled friends. :tort:
