Greetings All

Finally some great Sulcata weather here in Maryland! Hot hot hot and humid! Over 90 today and yesterday and equal humidity! Heat index is 110, give or take. Our Sully has been enjoying this heat wave, out early for a snack, sleep’s during the hot heat, then out much later for evening grazing. Grazing on fresh weeds and grass in his yard, supplemented with even more weeds, rose of sharon, grape leaves, mallow, dandelions...

Here are a few pix from today’s afternoon grazing

Greetings all. It’s hot hot and hotter here on the East Coast of the US coupled with record breaking humidity and heat index levels. Hovering 105-110F. Grass has been growing as are the weeds and everything else since we had more than 15 inches of rain this Spring. Rain, coupled with heat means it’s all growing!

Our Sully has been enjoying full time outside housing for months now, mowing his garden nicely on a daily basis. Can't get enough dandelions, plantains, or good old weeds. Loves Rose of Sharon (Alethea) better than Mazuri. Honest. Not as fond of Muscadine grape leave cuttings that we have in abundance. I think he’s very disappointed when he bites in thinking the grape leaves are rose of sharon.

Turned on the sprinkler and cut some Rose of Sharon clippings...and out Sully comes...

Just a quick pix update,

  • How our Sully spends most of his time...just watching time go by. Watching the grass grow. Watching additional food stuffs being added to his area...grape leaves, rose of sharon, corn husks, grass clippings, banana leaves, squash blossoms, etc.

Our Sully continues to enjoy the high heat and humidity of our Maryland Summer. Feeding lots of mowed grass, grass in his enclosure, banana leaves, Rose of Sharon, Mulberry, some corn on the cob complete with husks, kale and anything else thats edible.

A daily nice spray of water is also appreciated...

Greetings All

We started this Summer off with a drought....grass and weeds turning brown and no vegetative growth. But then the tides changed, the weather patterns changed, and now we are about 15 inches ABOVE normal with heavy rains every few days. Cant find a dry day to cut the grass.

That said, our Sully is enjoying the very high temperatures in the 90’s, coupled with rain and high humidity. Seems to know when it’s going to pour down ‘cause that's when Sully will exit his house and graze and play in the mud puddles.

A pix from this afternoon’s rain...

Greetings All.

Summer in its last stretch here in Maryland, but the temps continue to hover in the 90’s coupled with high humidity (yuck). The good thing is plenty of grass, weeds and flowers.

Sully out grazing and enjoying the heat and Summer’s bounty.

Greetings

Like a broken record here in Maryland... hot and humid. Luckily we have received plenty of thunderstorms to keep things green. Hot and humid meant another good soaking and garden walkies for Sully.

Wow, seeing him in the tub really shows how big he is. I think that's the same tub we use for Vlad

Yep...same cement mixing tub! It’s time for me to upsize and get the next larger one. Wish they were cheaper, but they are handy for plenty of other household projects. Your Sully looks great.

I didn't know they made them larger - I have a 7 gallon and a 14 gallon. I'll have to keep an eye out for the bigger ones.

Thanks! Sully is quite the tortoise also :tort:
