I did some rearranging and upgrading today. Thought I would share a few pics.

The Russian boys got a new temporary townhouse to hang out in until they head east to Danny's place.

I do too but I have to brake it up and sprinkle it on the food or they don't touch it.

Dumb question alert...What is Mazuri? Would it be good to feed to our Greek?

Mazuri is a dry tortoise chow that has been developed for Zoo over the last 25 years. Some keepers/breeders feed it exclusively, some feed it a few times a week as a supplement.

Crazy I just mist it down with water just before feeding it and my Hermanns love it, they will eat it dry but its harder for them to bite off pieces so I mist it down a bit. My new Leopard wont touch it so far, I even mixed it in with his dandelion greens and he ever so delicately picked the greens out in between the pieces of Mazuri. lol Im going to grind it up and mix it in with his greens today.

my three big girls LOVE Mazuri, but they were fed this exclusively before they came to me... they equally love the greens and weeds tho! None of the rest of my torts will touch it, tho, no matter what type they are!

If you guys cant find it locally and want to try it with your torts, let me know and I can sell you a gallon ziploc bag full for $5+shipping. Im pretty sure I can ship it reasonably priced in the mail in a padded mailer.

Anja, I was at a talk with the Mazuri sales rep. He was quite interesting and went over the development etc. He suggested soaking it for about 90 seconds. I tried this, it makes it softer but not soggy. I tried it dry and I tried it whole my greeks won't touch it, but if I break it all up into small peaces and mix it in with their greens they just eat it with the greens just like the calcium.

Yea thats why I just mist it with the water mister, so they dont get too soggy. :) I will be breaking up pieces to mix in for the Leopard after while when I feed. :)

Anja,

Where did you get the big white bin with the plastic top? Did you have to cut out the roof or did it come that way?

Really nice!
