Yep, as if I didn't already have enough Sulcata's...I wanted to start a baby from scratch, as all the others are rescues.

I had him ship them to the veterinary hospital where I work,so I have a "baby travel kit" ready for them, with collards, Mazuri, warm moist sphagnum, and a warmy disc underneath so they stay warm and humid until I can escape from work and get them home.

Plan is to weigh them, then soak them for 30 minutes as soon as the get here, then weigh again, then into their box to eat and feel safe before I can get them home.

One is for my neighbor, who's been incredible, and has seizures now. She and her husband have been researching Sulcata for many years and really want one. They LOVE Oliver and check on him when I'm gone too long. So they know exactly what they are getting into. This is a surprise for the wife...Ashley. She has no idea. Jason is building us both custom closed chambers like this....

Babies from Tom on their way!!

Careful Sandy, those Sulcatas start showing up once the word gets out. I'm still trying to understand how I've managed to have 6 here at the ranch, while placing 2 others. For crying out loud, that's 8!

During their soak. Very active.

Placed them in their box to wait for lunch hour. Lots of Mazuri and collards to munch on, plus warm and wet Sphagnum (microwave warmy underneath).

Put them in a dark place to rest and re cooperate while I finish my procedures this morning.

I can't wait for the neighbor to pic hers out.

You are much nicer than I. Of the two I had received, I picked mine and gave her hers. I had specific traits that I based my choice on, and as the world is reality, hers has since, developed those traits stronger than Little Ricky in the last year.

Hahaha.

Well, I'm home for lunch and both are resting in their new (temporary) home.
Temps are ideal, in accord with Tom's numbers. Moist enough to keep an earthworm happy!!

One is exploring, the other is staring at me. His head moves with me.

Getting misty eyed here. So sweet and I look forward to following each one of their stories. I'm so stinkin' excited for your neighbors' surprise and reaction!

RE: Babies from Tom on their way!!

Congrats. You are so lucky to be able to take on more sulcatas. Raising one from a baby is a thrill. I am sure we will get to see lots of pictures as it grows. Right?

Babies from Tom on their way!!

Ashley got to meet her new baby! Told her to pick out the one she wanted. She's overwhelmed and happy!!! I hug a huge hug and she's overwhelmed. Jason, the husband, unfortunately is working across the state, so he was not home to see them. Next week.

So she can't take hers home until we get at least a temporary chamber set up and temps tested. I gave her a CHE and a coupon for LLLReptile. Told her the bare minimum she needs to buy ASAP. Otherwise, pointed her towards eBay and amazon. We can buy things in bulk.

They just finished their evening soak, and I gently placed them in their moist, warm (90°) hide.
I'm so pleased. Thank you everyone for supporting me, my rescues and now my own babies. I figure...tough to educate people on how to raise a baby when you've never actually done it. How can I, as a rescuer, tell people how to raise them, having zero first hand knowledge? [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

Awwww! Wonderful!!! Did you set up a baby video monitor, so you can check on them whenever you can from work?

I can't, I don't have Internet, only iPhone and iPad with data plan.

Wish I could! I'd even have "Oliver cam"!!!

RE: Babies from Tom on their way!!

I'm thinking you need to get internet at your new place, so you can monitor all your rescues. Our Son just got a screaming great deal on Ebay for a 5 camera complete security system. He just got home from visiting us and someone stole his camper shell from his yard. UGH! So he's going full security cam nuts, that way he and his wife can monitor keep eyes on the property from their Iphones and remote computers.
